Last week, Mahamat Bichara Gnoti, a political associate of President Idris Deby Itno of Chad, was arrested last week for allegedly procuring weapons for Boko Haram members.
Gnoti was reportedly arrested on the Chadian-Sudan border, carrying 19 SAM2 missiles he allegedly purchased from the Sudanese army with the intention of sending to the Boko Haram terrorist network in North-Eastern Nigeria.
Gnosti reportedly claimed that President Idriss Deby gave him the funds for the weapons, and he waved a presidential pass to get past the border guards, but they insisted on searching him, whereupon the deadly weapons were found on his person.
Leadership correspondent says that the office of the US government under President Barack Obama is still silent, preferring to know the true situation of things before commenting.
Leadership reports, saying: "A reliable source within the White House told our correspondent during a telephone chat that this ‘unusual’ decision of the United States was borne out of the recent outburst of the Chairman of the Chibok community in Abuja, Tsambido Hosea-Abana, where he carpeted United States President, Barack Obama for condemning the recent Boko Haram attack on the troubled community."
