Following the deadly onslaught in North-East Nigeria especially Borno state by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, the House of Representatives have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to relocate the army headquarters to Maiduguri, the Borno state Capital.

This latest advice of the house was contained in a resolution adopted by the House following a motion at plenary by Peter Biye Guntha (APC, Borno).

The House said moving the army headquarters to Maiduguri for the time being would give the Chief of Army Staff the opportunity to gather first hand information on the attacks and come up with measures on how to contain the situation.

The lawmakers also called on the Federal Government to liaise with the governments of Chad, Niger Republic and Cameroon to discuss ways on how to tackle the activities of the insurgents around border areas.
