A group of concerned women in Borno - BAOBAB for Women Rights - on Wednesday, renewed call on the Boko Haram insurgents to release the remaining 230 abducted students.
"The abduction of the innocent young girls violates their human rights as it is a crime against humanity," Prof Hauwa Biu, the spokesperson for the group said in Maiduguri.
"Women in Borno are calling on the insurgents to please release all the girls in their custody without harming them’’, she said.
Biu also appealed to the insurgents to lay down their arms and hold dialogue with the government and added that the women were ready to embark on another search at Sambisa forest to rescue the girls if they had security backing.
"Our target is not to fight the abductors but we want to beg them to release the girls in the name of the God that we all worship”, she said.
Biu appealed to security agents to make use of sophisticated weapons in detecting the location of the abductors for easy rescue operation.
