Ali died at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, according to a family statement. He'd been admitted on Thursday after developing issues with his health.
Ali suffered from a respiratory illness, a condition that was complicated by Parkinson's disease.
His funeral will take place in Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
