Brazilian football legend Carlos Alberto, is dead, aged 72.

Reports say he died in Rio de Janeiro following a heart attack.

He has over 50 caps in a 13-year international career for Brazil and helped domestic teams Flamengo and Santos to win national titles.

Alberto, a former right back, was the captain of the great Brazilian team at the 1970 World Cup. He claimed glory for his team by scoring one of the most famous goals in the 1970 final and the tournament's history.

His iconic strike has become one of the most recognisable in world football and is synonymous with the Brazil legend.
