She said in a recent interview with IT Web Africa broadband foundation laid by the last administration is one that any government can leverage on to have a national broadband penetration.

Dr Johnson who is now the honorary chairperson of the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI), said sound policies and regulations of the past government contributed to the successes the ICT industry is enjoying in internet growth and penetration in the country today. A key part of such policies is the development of Nigeria's Broadband Plan and Roadmap, which was made a national issue of priority and not just a telecoms or IT issue.

She also stated that the diversity of committee members (telcos, IT companies, youth, the regulator, banks, SMEs) ensured that the committee had a plan that was not only encompassing in its outlook but also very practical; making it much easier to commence implementation almost immediately after the plan was approved by the then President Goodluck Jonathan.
