Nigeria - The Ekiti State Labour Party, LP, Elders’ Forum according to National Mirror has likened the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s next President to the fulfillment late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s “bloodless revolution” prophecy.
Chairman of the forum, Prof Joseph Oluwasanmi, urged Buhari to pilot “the New Dawn, which his victory symbolised with civility and the fear of God for Nigeria to stand shoulder high in the comity of nations”.
The LP Elders’ Forum in a statement in Ado Ekiti said the result of March 28 Presidential election “confirmed the resolve of Nigerians to continue to live together despite their religious and tribal differences. The electorate in Nigeria showed they have come of age”.
The elders also praised President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat to the President-elect, saying the two had made history as patriots, who fought gallantly for the unity and advancement of the country’s constitutional democracy.
