Ahead of Nigeria's Valentine day presidential elections, past dictators who ruled the country with an iron fist have queued behind one of their own, Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Even Ibrahim Babangida, former military ruler (1985 -1993) whom, Buhari has never really forgiven for overthrowing him has joined the queue behind his former army colleague.

Also, Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria's military ruler between 1976 and 1973,democratically elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, a member of President Goodluck Jonathan's Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has also endorsed Buhari.

The Country's only living past dictators who are yet to endorse Buhari are Yakubu Gowon and Abdusalami Abubakar.
Judging based on body language and recent political affiliation, Abubakar who ruled Nigeria from 9 June 1998 to 29 May 1999 will be joining his colleagues to endorse Buhari.
However, Gowon who ruled Nigeria from 1966 to 1975 may be the only past dictator backing President Jonathan's re-election bid.
In the past, when the former dictators shunned council of state meetings, Gowon has always been in attendance. Gowon has also praised President Jonathan's handling of the security crises plaguing the nation and urged Nigerians to give him more time.

Buhari was one of the participants in a coup led by Lt-Col Murtala Muhammed that overthrew and assassinated Nigeria's first military Head of State General Aguiyi Ironsi.
Sani Abacha would have also endorsed Buhari were he alive. Abacha was a staunch believer in Northern dominance and Buhari served under his military junta as Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
