The #Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has commiserated with the Kano emirate council and the entire people of Kano over the death of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

In a statement signed by CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the news of the demise of the emir was received with shock and sadness.

Oritsejafor described the death of the emir as a great loss not only to his family and the emirate council but to the entire nation and humanity at large.

`` On behalf of the entire Christian community in Nigeria, I condole with the #Bayero family, the Kano emirate, the government and people of Kano State over the demise of Alhaji Ado Bayero.

``It is with shock that I receive the news of the demise of the revered traditional ruler; an elder statesman who stood for the peace and unity of Nigeria at all times.

``The Christian Association of Nigeria mourns with the family of the deceased, the members of the emirate council and the entire people of Kano over the great loss,’’ Oritsejafor was quoted as saying.

According to the statement, the death of Ado Bayero is indeed a huge loss to the nation, especially at a time when his wise counsel is most needed.

He said that the late emir would be remembered for his stand against terrorism even at the expense of his life and a position that endeared him to many people from far and near.

According to #Oritsejafor, the family, the people of Kano and friends of the deceased should take solace in the fact that he lived a good life that is worthy of emulation.

He called on Nigerians to pray for the repose of his soul and focus on the good things that the late emir lived and fought for.

Oritsejafor urged Nigerians to be united in the legacies of the late emir and join forces with the Federal Government to fight terrorism from the land.
