The Central African Republic’s (CAR) National Transitional Council Chairman, Alexandre Nguende, on Wednesday in Bangui led the 135 parliamentarians to submit nominations for the new interim president

This began the 10-day process of electing a new political leadership after the former interim president Michel Djotodia stepped down last week.

CAR had reportedly been experiencing a humanitarian crisis since Djotodia's coalition rose up against the government in December 2012.

It overthrew president Francois Bozize, a Christian, in March, while the security situation in the conflict-ridden nation remained volatile.

It said more than 40 people had been killed since interim president Michel Djotodia stepped down last week under international pressure, according to the UN.
