The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has directed commercial banks in the country to start accepting cheque deposits into savings accounts.
In a circular recently released, CBN said "savings account customers with BVN should be allowed to deposit cheques worth not more than N2,000,000.00 (Two million naira) into their accounts, per customer, per day.
CBN said the directive is aimed at deepening the payment system in the country.
