Saraki's lawyers staged a walkout from the tribunal room as the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) ruled that Senate President Bukola Saraki’s trial must continue despite his appeal at the supreme court.

In protest to the ruling, Saraki’s‎ lawyer, Mahmud Magaji said he was withdrawing from the case for what he termed “judicial rascality”.

Following Magaji’s submission, all of Saraki’s lawyers walked out of the courtroom in a single file. Danladi Umar, who delivered the ruling, then asked Saraki if he was prepared to defend himself to which he answered in the negative.

The chairman of the CCT then gave Saraki one week to get new lawyers, to which the senate president protested that it was not enough to get and brief new lawyers.

He reiterated that he was on trial because he defied the wishes of some powerful people to become senate president. The tribunal thereafter turned down his request for a month leave to get new lawyers and fixed November 19 for hearing.
