Mr Osita Okechukwu, the National Publicity Secretary of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has threatened to sue the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE if the agency fails to provide information on the privatisation of Enugu Distribution Company Plc (ENUGUDISCO) within seven days.

Okechukwu, who is also the South-East Zonal Publicity Secretary of the APC, issued the threat in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that the request was in line with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FoI) 2011, and advised the BPE to comply with the law or risk litigation.

He had earlier in a letter dated Sept. 12, requested the BPE Director-General to provide him with relevant information and documents covering the exercise, including expression of interest.

He described the BPE as bending the rules to allow a preferred bidder buy a national treasure against due process and the rules of the privatisation process.

Femi Falana (SAN) had been briefed on the matter, he added.
