World Colombia Nabs Woman 'Pregnant with Cocaine'

A Canadian ‘tourist’ who entered Colombia at the beginning of August has been arrested in Colombia after trying to board a flight to Toronto with a phony pregnant belly stuffed with cocaine, police say.

The woman caught the attention of a policewoman at Bogota's International Airport who allegedly asked her how far along she was.

"[The Canadian] didn't like the question, which made the official suspicious. Instinctively, she then very delicately touched the lady's belly, realising it was too hard and extremely cold," said the deputy director of Colombia's police anti-narcotics section, Colonel Esteban Arias Melo.

The woman allegedly said she was seven months pregnant.

The police on searching her found two sealed bags inside the latex belly stashed with 2kg (5lb) of cocaine.

The drugs would have had a street value of around $60,000 (£38,000), the Colombian police said.

She will be charged with drug trafficking, possession and production and could be sentenced to between five and eight years in prison.

Obviously she beat the system put in place but got caught because of her attitude.

"Smile and wave" was all she needed to do. Unfortunately, she could not put her emotions in check - what's there not to like the question. I guess she forgot she was supposed to be pregnant

This phealip character is very open minded.
I think she was under a lot of tension, hence her behaviour- and she is inexperienced too. Like phealip said, a smile and a short banter would have done the job.
