Professor Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River state on Monday locked out workers who reported late for work in Government House, Calabar.
THIS DAY reports that the Governor who arrived at his office before 8am directed that workers that arrived late should be locked out. The State’s Head of Service (HOS), Mary-Theresa Ikwen , who was on hand to enforce the governor’s order, promptly moved to the main entrance gate and ordered that it be locked immediately after 8.30a.m.
Governor Ayade in company of journalists later addressed the late-comers who were standing outside.
He said, ''If heads of MDAs could report to work as early as 8a.m., I see no reason why the subordinates should not be in their respective offices on or before that time. For those who are late today, we will pardon them but from tomorrow (Tuesday), all late-comers will be locked outside and sanctioned accordingly''.
