Cross Rivers State Governor, Liyel Imoke has suspended 7 commissioners, 13 Special Advisers for absenting themselves from the state’s World’s AIDS Day anniversary walk on Sunday, December 1 which also heralded the flag-off of the state’s Annual Calabar Festival Dec.1, was attended by Imoke and other cabinet members.

The suspension notice was contained in a statement issued by Mr Michael Aniah, Secretary to the State Government.

According to the statement, the affected officials included the Commissioner for Justice, Mr Attah Ochinke; the Commissioner for Finance, Etim Takis Caifas; the Commissioner for Women Addairs, Mrs Edak Iwuchukwu; and the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Mrs Patricia Endeley, Commissioner for Environment, Dr Sandy Onor; the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr James Aniyom and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Elemi Etowa.

The affected special advisers include Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Eja Dons Eseghe; Tourism, Mr Wilfred Usani; Religious Affairs, Eyo Okpo Ene; Special Duties; Mr Fabian Okpa;Forestry and Biodiversity, Ntufam Gabe Odu-Oji; Investment, Dr Gerald Adah; Political and Legislative Matters, Mr Fred Osim; Legal, Mr Mark Obi ; NGO, Mrs Margaret Johnson Ebokp; ICT, Mr Odo Effiong; on Mineral Resources, Mr Effiong Bassey; Strategy and Planning, Prof. Idem Temple and the Special Adviser on Debt Management, Mrs Francisca Nkoyo Effiong.

The statement further directed the affected cabinet members to hand over to their Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective Ministries and Departments and Agencies.
