Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote has taken a huge step to ensure the production of rice in Nigeria.

Dangote Group's Chief Executive Director, Hajiya Halima Dangote, has announced that the firm has concluded plans to establish rice mills of 250,000 tonnes per annum capacity in Kano state.

The mill would be used in processing rice that would be grown through the company’s out-grower project in Jigawa, Zamfara and Sokoto states.

She added that the company would also commission it’s fertilizer plant next year with a capacity of about 2.8 million tonnes per annum, adding that it could be the largest plant in sub-Saharan Africa.

She stated this at the Dangote Day at the 37th International Trade Fair in Kano.
