Sports Djokovic beat Ronaldo and McIlroy to win Laureus World Sportsman of the Year

has been crowned the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year at a ceremony on Wednesday in Shanghai, China ahead of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Rory McIlroy.

The World No. 1, who defeated British Andy Murray in the Miami Open championship last week and currently competing at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters was presented with the award by HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club.

In 2014, the Serbian compiled a 61-8 match record, won Wimbledon (d. Federer), five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophies and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for a third straight year. He reclaimed No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings on 4 July.

Djokovic had previously won the award in 2012 after a remarkable 2011 campaign, which saw him win three Grand Slam championships and five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles. ATPWorldtour
