Dufil commended for consistent educational support

Dufil Prima Foods Plc, maker of Nigeria’s most preferred noodles brand, Indomie Instant Noodles, played host to an important guest, in the person of this year’s Osun state Spelling Bee Competition winner, Miss Zainab Olawale at the company’s corporate headquarters in Surulere.

The maiden edition of the competition came about in Osun State, Nigeria as a result of the franchise the Young Executive Foundation, Ghana got from the International Spelling Bee in USA in partnership with the SheriCare Foundation (SCARF), an NGO initiated by the wife of the
Governor of Osun State, Sherifat Aregbesola.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Mr. Rotimi Ajayi, Coordinator SheriCare Foundation (SCARF), this initiative is aimed at ultimately promoting literacy, cultivating the habit of reading among students, likewise inculcating and building confidence in them.

Ajayi stated that, stipulated criteria were followed in choosing the eventual winner of this competition and by virtue of winning the first edition of the Osun State Spelling Bee, Miss Zainab Olawale, would now enjoy the privilege of going on a trip to the United States of
America, for the International Spelling Bee Competition but will only observe and not take part in the competition, She will however be opportune to be among the audience and this will be a good exposure for her.”

Shedding more light during the courtesy visit, Spelling Bee Project Coordinator, Young Executive Foundation Ghana, Mr. Akin-Olu Phillips, expressed his profound gratitude to Dufil Prima Foods Plc, stating that the maiden competition was a huge success due to the company’s relentless support.

According to him, “prior to this time, Indomie has been the backbone of the Spelling Bee Competition in Ghana for 5years now and has continued to render immense support in ensuring that the success story of the Spelling Bee is constantly on the rise.

He continued, “We are indeed grateful for the continued support, even when the Spelling Bee Competition is brought to Osun State, Nigeria. Note that this is the pilot phase, and we hope to extend it to other states in the nearest future but we chose Osun State first, mainly because of the huge commitment of its government on education”.

Marketing Manager, Dufil Prima Foods, Manpreet Singh, who welcomed Zainab and her entourage, thanked them for coming to show appreciation for the company’s support towards the Spelling Bee competition, as he said “Dufil is always happy to pull its weight behind education because the company realizes that a nation with more educated people turn out great.

Singh continued, “that is why we are more than committed to the growth and development of the educational sector of the country, as is evident in the numerous educational projects, we continue to embark upon such as the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition, Donation of Science laboratory Equipment to schools etc.

Also speaking, Events and Public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju also welcomed the Spelling Bee Winner, saying “we are pleased to have you visit us today and I am happy to say on behalf of the company that we are proud of you for making not only your immediate family proud but the entire nation, that is why we have gathered here to celebrate her achievement”.

According to him, “Dufil Prima Foods Plc will continue to support competitions like this, as we like to ‘catch them young’. In doing this, we believe that the children will develop better intellectually if they are educationally sound at a tender age, he added, “ The best is yet to come, as we still have bigger and better plans of boosting the educational sector in the country”.

Zainab Olawale, a JSS 2 Student of Unity Middle School, Osogbo expressed her excitement and gratitude to the organizers for giving her the rare opportunity, while also encouraging other children to face their studies, so they too can become winners in the next edition of the spelling bee competition.
