On Monday, the Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) claimed that Mr. Ebikeme Clark, the son of the Ijaw National Leader, Chief Edwin Clark orchestrated his own kidnap.
However, Ebikeme has denied the claims by MEND.
Nigerian Tribune reported that Ebikeme said that he did not plot his kidnap to get N500million from the Delta state government.
"MEND is dead. Nigeria must move forward. The problem we have now is Boko Haram, not MEND. Those are tricks and a baseless allegation from a faceless and dead group", Ebikeme said.
He also said that most of the stories carried by dailies on Monday about his release were not factual, adding that reporters should endeavour to seek audience directly with him to get their facts.
Meanwhile, an anonymous source who on behalf of the Delta state government said no ransom was paid by the government.
Yesterday, after the release of Ebikeme, the Delta state police command had paraded 6 suspects alleged to be involved in the kidnap, while the man hunt for 4 others continue.
