At least 12 aspirants have reportedly purchased the nomination forms of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the party's March 12 primaries for the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election.
The male aspirants paid N10 million for nomination form, while the female aspirants had a waiver, but all aspirants paid one million naira for the expression of interest form.
Amoung those who purchased the nomination forms are Ayo Fayose, Chief Bisi Omoyeni, Mrs Bola Oloyede, Dr Peter Obafemi, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, Caleb Olubolade, Chief Gbenga Aluko, Chief Biodun Aluko and Mr Adewale Aribisala.
The candidates are expected to return their nomination forms to the party secretariat ahead of its primaries slated for March 1.
Most of the candidates except Fayose, a former governor of the state are calling for a consensus candidate, they all claimed that zoning would cause unnecessary polarization within the party.
