The forthcoming Ekiti governorship election is denigrating into a battle of thugs as political parties trade accusations over violent attacks.

Just yesterday, the Labour Party accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state of allegedly attacking its campaign train in Ilawe and Iye Ekiti last weekend.

Describing the attack, Bolanle Olatunde-Bruce, media and publicity Secretary for the Labour party said, "live ammunition, machetes, axes and stones were freely used in attacking faithful party members who were peacefully campaigning for Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele of the Labour Party. In Isan Ekiti, the home town of the outgoing governor, our campaign bus was shattered and battered, same at Ilawe Ekiti, the hometown of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yemi Adaramodu. In Iye Ekiti in the Ilejemeje Local Government, one of our youth leaders was machetted and had to be hospitalized".

Following the attack, the Labour party has issued a warning to the APC saying," nobody has the monopoly of violence".

Meanwhile, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organization has decribed the Labour Party's claims as false.
