Metro Ekiti Jails Two Suspected Herdsmen Over Oke Ako Killings

Two herdsmen have been jailed by an Ekiti Magistrate Court over the killings perpetrated by suspected herdsmen in Oke Ako on the 20th of May, 2016.

The suspects, Usman Salihu, 50, and Abubakar Auta, 52, were earlier arraigned in court for murder and causing grievous bodily harm, Police PRO Alberto Adeyemi said.

He said the suspects were remanded in prison till September, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The Oke Ako killings had caused a public outcry against herdsmen attacks. According to reports, two person died during the attack while three others were injured. The injured are still receiving treatment at different hospitals in Ikole Ekiti and Ado Ekiti, reports say.

People who fled the town during the attack have also been urged to come back as peace has returned.
