Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, today explained why Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, is still in detention despite a court order for his release.
Shehu said the reason is to forestall a breakdown of law and order which his release may cause; THE CABLE reports.
“The government has a responsibility to ensure his safety.''
“He is not in prison type detention. He is in the company of his wife and children voluntarily,'' the Presidential spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, Shiites in Abuja has been protesting, demanding the release of El-Zakzaky.
