Last Saturday, the Enugu state government house was attacked by about 50 machete wielding fellows, Cultists were blamed for the attack.
However, recent information released by the police allege that the attack was orchestrated by Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB). The police were able to draw that conclusion after 4 suspects arrested during the attack confessed to being MASSOB members.
Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Enugu state Commissioner of Police said,"The suspects said they were sent to mount the MASSOB flags at the Government House. The suspects said their intention was to take over the Government House. We have the names of their sponsors but we are still investigating to track them down.
The commissioner also countered earlier reports that one of the suspects had died in police custody. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Enugu state government house to counter future attacks.
