A committee of the Enugu state House of Assembly has threatened to arrest a Tertiary Education Trust Fund consultant handling works at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

The Chairman of the Committee, Chief John Anichukwu (PDP-Nkanu East), told newsmen that the projects were billed for completion in 2013 and that the consultant was needed to explain the delay.

He said the committee was set to investigate the management of the fund and the reasons behind the delay in the completion of the projects.

The chairman said the committee had met with some of the contractors handling the projects.

He said the completion of the projects had become necessary to enable the institution to access more funds for other projects.

Anichukwu directed the consultant to appear before the committee on April 8 or risk arrest.

"Our target is that while we are still investigating the projects, the job must go on as expected. The consultant is expected to be around now that work is going on for effective supervision and monitoring,’’ he said.

He said the the N1 billion fund which was for 2012 could have been used to construct structures at the schools of engineering, entrepreneurship and the central library.

According to him, the projects were being handled by four contracting firms.

Responding on behalf of the three contractors present at the meeting, Mr Chuba Nwadiogbu of R9 Nig. Ltd, said the projects were initially delayed by lack of funding.
