The Former Enugu State governor, Sullivan Chime, was on Wednesday grilled by the EFCC over the $115m allegedly disbursed by Fidelity Bank on the instruction of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, during the re-election campaign of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Chime reported at the Enugu zonal office of the commission in response to an invitation to explain his role in the disbursement, DailyTrust reports.

He denied any personal involvement in the disbursement as claimed by Mrs. Rita Chinelo Mba , secretary to the campaign office and his former commissioner for special duties and inter-government affairs.

According to him, the money was brought by two of his former commissioners, Joe Nmamnel and Mrs Rita Mba in company of the Chairman of the PDP, Enugu State, Ikeji Asogwa and Prof. Osita Ogbu.

He reportedly confessed that he gave the money to his orderly for safe keeping and only Rita Mba should have access to it to facilitate her work as secretary of the campaign secretariat. He denied personally disbursing the fund.

He is due to return to the agency for further questioning on the 13th of June.
