Ex Nigerian governors currently under corruption probe are plotting to infiltrate the EFCC by planting their ex aides as detectives in the agency so that they could influence their trials, a Punch report claims.
It was learnt that the ex-states’ chief executive officers had started lobbying the police authorities and the Police Service Commission to post their former police aides to the EFCC as investigators.
It was recently discovered that the ex aide of a former northern governor was occupying an important position in the EFCC. The agency quickly relieved the ex aide of his position to prevent a conflict of interests, Punch said.
EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu has launched an investigation to ensure that ex aides or men of ex governors are rooted out of the anti graft agency.
