The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has been thrown into mourning, following the death of one of its former presidents, Mr. Ndagene Akwu, at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Akwu, who was NUJ president from 2004 to 2008, reportedly slumped and died at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, near the Rivers State capital, shortly after he arrived from Abuja.
It could not be immediately ascertained as to what led to Akwu’s death, but the Rivers State NUJ Chairman, Opaka Dokubo, confirmed the incident.
