Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, (PDP-Delta), speaking with newsmen in Asaba on Monday said that the exit of some governors from the PDP would strengthen the party.
According to him, those who were left behind would work hard to ensure that the party excelled in the subsequent elections.
He said that the development was a welcome development, adding that it would entrench competition necessary for democracy to grow.
“But whatever is going on in this country, I think it is good for the democracy of this nation.
“We require competition for democracy to grow and once democracy begins to grow, it becomes competitive.
“It is more likely that government will become more efficient and good governance will definitely be the order of the game, ” he said.
In a related development, the Rt. Rev. Justus Mogekwu, Anglican Bishop of Asaba Dioceses, said the governors were in order if their intentions were good.
He said God won’t allow it if their desire was to foment crises in the country and also advised politicians to imbibe integrity as a lifestyle, in order to better the lots of the people in the country.
