Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup third round on Sunday with a 4-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest as Tottenham Hotspur were the only one of three Premier League teams in action who booked their place in the next stage.

Former Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj scored either side of Per Mertesacker's equaliser before a Ben Brereton penalty. Danny Welbeck reduced the deficit to one goal again, but Kieran Dowell's late spot-kick sealed Arsenal's demise.

Tottenham demolished Wimbledon 3-0 to advance, Harry Kane scoring twice before Jan Vertonghen sealed their win, while West Ham United were forced to a replay following their stalemate at League One Shrewsbury Town.

Elsewhere, 10-man Leeds United were knocked out of the FA Cup running following a 2-1 loss at League Two outfit Newport County, who came back from a goal down late on to progress.

The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup takes place on Monday at 7:10 p.m. GMT/2:10 p.m. ET.
