Leonardo DiCaprio waited 22 years to finally win his first Oscar at the 2016 Oscar awards. Long wait, right? But there are some world class actors that have never won an Oscar despite scintillating performances over the years and appearances in worldwide box-office movies. Below are a list of famous actors who never won an Oscar

Tom Cruise

The megastar with the megawatt grin has thus far found securing an Academy Award perhaps his most impossible mission. He’s been nominated three times for three extremely different roles: as the high-gloss sports agent Jerry Maguire; as the Vietnam War veteran Ron Kovic in Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July; and as the foul pickup artist Frank Mackey in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia. In all three cases, he won at the Golden Globes and lost at the Oscars.

Harrison Ford

Even after a career of legendary box-office smashes, Ford has yet to unearth an Oscar trophy. In fact, the 73-year-old has been nominated only once, for his performance as a hard-boiled Philadelphia detective tasked with protecting an Amish boy who witnesses a murder in 1985’s Witness. Beyond Ford’s iconic performances in endlessly beloved films — including Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars and Blade Runner — his next-best shot at Oscar glory might have been 1993’s The Fugitive, which instead earned an Academy Award for co-star Tommy Lee Jones.

Samuel L. Jackson

One can only imagine the inventively vulgar way this incomparable actor might describe the indifference he’s been shown by the academy. Over four prolific decades, Jackson has stolen scenes in several undisputed classics — including Do the Right Thing,Goodfellas and Jurassic Park — and sparkled in headlining roles in the likes of The Long Kiss Goodnight and M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable. His mutually beneficial partnership with Quentin Tarantino has produced some of his best work, in Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and the only film so far to earn Jackson an Oscar nod,Pulp Fiction.

Will Smith

The sultan of the summer box office has managed to mix critically praised prestige projects with crowd-pleasing popcorn flicks since first impressing as a duplicitous con man in 1993’s Six Degrees of Separation. Two of his most ambitious dramas eventually earned the 47-year-old Oscar recognition — 2001’s boxing biopic Ali and 2006’s heartstring-tugging The Pursuit of Happyness — but in both cases he lost to older black actors (first Denzel Washington in Training Day, then Forest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland).

Johnny Depp

Yes, it is true. 2012’s Guinness World Records highest paid actor has not clinched an Oscar awards.
Sad right? Very very sad. Although, he was nominated for his role in 2003 American fantasy film –Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl- he lost out to Senn Penn, for his role in Mystic River. In 2014, he earned another nomination for Finding Neverland but lost to Jamie Foxx, who gave a remarkable performance in autobiographical- Ray.
