Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Monday in Ikeja signed the state’s 2014 Appropriation Bill into law.

Fashola’s assent to the N489.6 billion Appropriation Bill followed its passage by the House of Assembly on Thursday.

N234.65 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while capital expenditure takes N255 billion.

By sector allocation, Works and Infrastructure takes the lion share of N100.1 billion, followed by Education with N51.3 billion.

Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation got the least allocation of N1.36 billion.

While signing the bill, Fashola said that the early signing of the budget demonstrated the government's seriousness in furthering the development of the state.

The governor commended members of the state's House of Assembly for timely passage of the bill and promised strict implementation of the budget.
