The FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has condemned Monday's bomb blast at Nyanya Mass Transit Bus Terminal in Abuja, describing it as a cowardly act perpetrated by unscrupulous elements.
This is contained in a statement on Monday in Abuja by Mr Nosike Ogbuenyi, Special Assistant to the Minister on Media.

The statement said that the minister was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the FCT Administration (FCTA), Mr John Chukwu, during President Goodluck Jonathan's visit to the scene.

The statement said that the minister, who travelled out of the country at the weekend, had resolved to return home on April 15 due to the sad development.

It said that Mohammed, who commiserated with the families of the victims, directed that adequate care and succour be given to those receiving medical attention at various general hospitals.

The statement assured FCT residents that their security and safety remained utmost consideration in the programme of his administration.

``The minister also enjoined them to be security conscious in their neighbourhoods and go about their legitimate activities.

``The administration is in touch with various security agencies to ensure that all lives and property are secured within the FCT and its environs,” it said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chukwu was among the top Federal Government officials that received Jonathan at Nyanya during an on the spot assessment of the blast.

He also accompanied the president to Asokoro General Hospital where some of the injured were receiving medical treatment.
