The FCT Administration on Friday ordered the four suspended On-Street Parking Operators to release all impounded vehicles in their custody with immediate effect.

Mr Jonathan Ivoke, the Secretary, FCT Transport Secretariat disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja.

Ivoke said that it became imperative for them to release all the vehicles without payment as the court judgment had nullified their operation in the city.

"There is no need for them to continue keeping offenders vehicles in their yards; they must release all without collecting money. The order is necessary because the court judgment has nullified their operation in the city,’’ he said.

In the absence of the scheme, he advised motorists to utilise all areas earmarked for parking, warning that the administration would not condone indiscriminate parking on the walkways.

"People are expected to park orderly, if anybody uses his or her car to block the road or walkway, the Road Traffic Personnel will tow such vehicles. They should park orderly, they are not going to pay and any vehicle that develop fault must not be abandoned on the street.’’

An Abuja High Court had on April 17 ordered that the FCT Administration’s ‘Park and Pay’ policy should be nullified forthwith.
