The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has warned that it would not permit internal recruitment of staff into Federal Government parastatal agencies by their chief executives officers.

The FCC Commissioner for Ekiti State, Mr Ojo Christopher, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

Christopher said this was to avoid lopsidedness, marginalisation and nepotism, adding that the commission had spelt out guidelines on recruitment of staff.

"If we allow recruitment of staff by the CEOs, the agencies would be a reflection of the mind of the chief executive officers. FCC demands for short list of candidates from organisations wishing to recruit after six weeks advertisement of vacancies in the media,’’ he said.

Christopher said that the agencies of government would only issue appointment letters to their recruited staff after obtaining a certificate of compliance from the commission.

He said that the FCC issues certificates of compliance to certify that the agencies had complied with the commission’s laid down principles on recruitment.

He said that the certificate of compliance was an important document that would bail the CEO out of alleged marginalization by employees.

"Nigerians know how to write petitions a lot; they might petition the chief executive. So, it is always good for the agencies to carry the Federal Character Commission along in its recruitment of staff to avoid challenges,’’ he said.
