Ahmed Gulak, former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Matters, on Thursday said he wasn't fired by the President for incompetence; PUNCH reported.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Gulak said, "I don’t believe my leaving office will reduce my popularity and I was not removed from office for any offence. I played my part the way I know it; I have defended the President and I took on anybody who said President Jonathan should not contest.
"I was not sacked for incompetence. I was not sacked for dereliction of duty. I had been with the President for about seven years and I founded the Goodluck Support Group, which spearheaded his campaign in 2011 throughout the country. I took on anybody that was against him and his political moves. That was my duty. I did it very well and I think it would be wrong for anyone to say I was sacked ingloriously".
Gulak further seized the opportunity to call on Nigerians to rally round President Jonathan.
