A sudden scarcity of petrol in Imo state has seen the price of the commodity jump to between N300 and N400 per litre, Vanguard reports.
The scarcity according to reports, was caused by the murder of a fuel tanker by an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, on Wednesday night along Elele road, Port Harcourt.
In reaction, tanker drivers decided to stop working to show their disapproval of the incident.
Filling stations in the area also closed up shop to show support for the drivers, causing scarcity and then a monumental increase in the price of the commodity.
The situation has affected the populace of the state, with passengers having to fork out twice the usual transport fares.
