Queues. Traffic. Jerry Cans. That’s just a glimpse of the picture Nigeria’s seemingly perennial fuel scarcity saga paints. And with a population of over 20 million (depending on what statistics you believe), zero mass transit alternatives, and the aggressive, go-getter attitude of residents, Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, quickly transforms to an arduous maze, frustrating the progress of economic activities whenever this visitor comes to town.

Although the solution to fuel scarcity and the economic hardship it bring on citizens is not rocket science, over the years local authorities have failed to identify, and nip in the bud the reason why Nigeria, Africa’s largest crude exporter, perennially suffers from a lack of a product it has in abundance.
