England's U-21 team coach, Gareth Southgate has been announced as the temporary manager for the senior English football team, following Sam Allardyce's resignation after 67 days in charge.

“Gareth Southgate will take charge of the men’s senior team for the next four matches against Malta, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain whilst The FA begins its search for the new England manager,” a Football Association statement read.

He was in the running the first time round. England now have a long hard search ahead of them but the pressure will be on Southgate to take this up full time.

True. The English senior football team seems to be a conglomerate of egotistic average footballers. Southgate would do right to avoid "the chalice."
