Governor Akinwumi Ambode has ordered Lagos state Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, to immediately redeploy of some policemen attached to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit out of Lagos state.

This follows last Friday’s raids in different parts of Lagos by the affected policemen, which involved rough treatment and arrests of innocent citizens, Punch says.

This is according to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who says Governor Ambode, wanted an immediate redeployment of the officers from the unit and possibly from the state over the “unacceptable conduct.”

“Preliminary investigation showed that the unauthorised raid was carried out with the knowledge of the second-in-command to the task force Chairman, SP Taiwo Adeoluwa, without the approval of the Chairman, SP Saheed Egbeyemi," he said.

“The conduct of the affected officers is not in tandem with the vision of Lagos State Government. Their conduct is also unbecoming of officers who are expected to protect the citizenry.”
