Nigeria- Ebonyi state governor Mrtin Elechi on Monday commissioned the uncompleted Ochudo State Secretariat blocks and international market, Vanguard reports.
The secretariat, with 11 blocks of four floors building with 6,000 offices and 7,070 lock-up stores in the international market, were among the projects started seven years ago by the Elechi-led administration in the state.
According to Elechi, “if we do not commission these projects, if we do not put them to use immediately, the depreciation effect will cost us more to bring them back to this stage we are now.
‘’So it will make sense that we should start using them now, given the state of below 100 per cent completion.
He added that despite the additional provisions of N2 billion and N3.2 billion, funds remain inadequate for the completion of the projects which was scheduled for December last year.
However, the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC in the state shunned the commissioning exercise over alleged intimidation and victimization of workers in the state.
