Governor Udom Emmanuel, who was attending the service at the Reighers Bible Church narrowly escaped death as the foundation building collapsed.
According to Channels TV, the Church building collapsed on Saturday while a church service was going on.
At least 50 people have been killed with many worshipper injured.

A source at one of the hospitals, Premier Hospital, said many of the injured were taken there and were receiving medical attention.
A police spokesperson who sounded emotional when contacted by PremiumTimes, said she could not speak on the matter immediately.
“You need to be here to witness it, there is so much confusion,” she simply said.
