The Libyan information agency said on Monday in Tripoli that the five Libyan soldiers, kidnapped by gunmen near the border with Sudan, had been released.
Col. Idriss Youness, Chief of the Kufra military region, said the five soldiers were in good health.
Also Mustapha Al-Ojali, spokesman for the Kufra local council, said the release of the soldiers followed negotiations between Col. Miloud Masmous, the former chief of the Kufra military region, and members of the Toutou tribe from the Ribayan region.
Al-Ojali added that the gunmen were convinced to release the five soldiers in return for the release of three members of their tribe arrested by ex-rebels from the city of Kufra.
