This morning, a Rome-bound Ethiopian Airlines flight was hijacked and forced to land in Geneva. Ethiopian Airlines flight 702 left Addis Ababa and was supposed to land in Rome.
Just as the plane was flying over Sudan, it reportedly began broadcasting a 7500 alert call;which is airline code for a hijacking.
The plane was allegedly forced to proceed to Geneva. After hours of circling Geneva, the plane which had almost run out of fuel was then forced to land at the Geneva airport.
Geneva airport was closed to all flights during the incident and remains closed. According to Geneva police spokesman, Jean-Philippe Brandt the man behind the act was in their custody. All passengers and crew are safe at Geneva Airport.
