An American couple of the name Larry and Carri Williams have been convicted in the torture and murder of their adopted teenage daughter from Ethiopia, Hanna Williams and another adopted younger boy also from Ethiopia.
According to the Global Post, Carrie Williams who still maintained her innocence throughout the trial, was found guilty of homicide by abuse and manslaughter, while her husband was convicted of first degree manslaughter.
They were accused in 2011 for the cause of the death of their 13 year-old daughter, Hanna, who reportedly died of hypothermia and malnutrition. Carrie Williams reported maintained that she thought her daughter was “pretending” to be suffering when she was locked outside.
The family reportedly practised disciplinary methods from the book, “How to Train a Child.” The couple’s defence lawyer argued that though they were bad parents, they were not necessarily guilty of the crime.
Hanna’s eight other adoptive siblings are now free from the Williams’ home and thrive outside the environment of deprivation that the guilty couple constantly created and used to control the children.
