Ex Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, retired Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Oyeabo Ihejirika, has declared that he is not involved with the Boko Haram sect as alleged.

He was arrested in June for mismanaging armed funds diverted from the office of the ex National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Speaking at an FCT High Court on Thursday, he said he only fought the Boko Haram sect using his commanders in the field.

He was suing Nduka Obaigbena, Leaders and Company Limited, and Stephen Davis, an Australian who claimed to be a hostage negotiator working for the release of Nigerian women taken hostage by the Boko Haram sect at Chibok, Borno State in 2014.

The former army boss is claiming N100bn for damages from the defendants for defamation in the interview granted by Davis to Arise TV and then published in ThisDay

He also asked for a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from further defamatory comments concerning him.

In addition, he wants the defendants to publish a full retraction and apology in the front page of ThisDay Newspaper for the said false and libellous publication
