Those who patronise auto mechanics need to be cautious when dropping their keys with artisans while their vehicles are under repair. This is because the keys might be duplicated and used for criminal activities by robbers who disguise as mechanics.

Ibrahim Tijani (32) from Oke Olola in Oyo town, Oyo State is an example. An auto mechanic in Gwagwalada, one of the satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory, he and two other members of his three-man gang, Saheed Oloruntoyin and Lukmon Oladimeji, specialised in stealing vehicles, especially of Nissan brand, from where they are parked. The vehicles would then be brought to Oyo State for sale.

Same goes for vehicles stolen from Oyo State which are taken to Abuja. This went on until nemesis caught up with them recently when they allegedly graduated to dispossessing car owners of their vehicles, and, unfortunately, the victim turned out to be someone close to a member of the gang.
