Sports I will run for Barcelona presidency in 2016- Joan Laporta

Former Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has expressed his interest in contesting for the presidency of the Catalan club in 2016.

Laporta, who was the 38th president of Barcelona said that with "the warmth and support" that he has received from people is encouraging him to run for president in Barcelona's next elections, which in principle will be held in 2016.

He vacated office for Sandro Rosell who later resigned following his role in the transfer saga of Neymar.

"We don't need a judge to tell us if we managed Barça well or badly. I think that it is obvious from the results we had." he was quoted as saying on Marca.

Laporta took a swipe at interim president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, saying that he "is not qualified" to run the club, "because nobody has voted for him".

Laporta also said that Rosell inherited "the best Barça of all time" with "the best contracts" regarding advertising partners and television "and a running credit when he came to office.
