An Indonesian court on Tuesday sentenced Rudi Rubiandini, former head of the country's energy regulatory body to seven years in jail for corruption. The anti-corruption court in Jakarta found him guilty of accepting 1.5 million dollars bribe from local and foreign oil companies.
He was arrested in August in a raid at his house, during which investigators seized more than 400,000 dollars from him. Rubiandini, who was the latest of a series of high-ranking officials to have been embroiled in a corruption case, said he accepted the verdict in good faith.
Indonesia ranked 114th out of 177 countries in the 2013 corruption perception index released by Transparency International.
